A woman bounced her first payment and I demanded the balance be paid at that point, ended the call and waited... she, of course, immediately called me back begging me to allow her to make up the check. She was telling me about her situation and it just pulled every one of my heart strings. Some people who are in debt are truly experiencing a hardship based on unemployment (which is the ONLY reason to be delinquent, FYI). Unfortunately, the majority of our business is composed of people who live far beyond their means then blame a lack of income on their inability to pay. Your hatred of collectors is uncalled for. It may not reduce your debt in any way, but at least it doesn't add to the aggravation involved.
