6 Reactions to The Pick-up Artist

With only two weeks into the new reality show, The Pick-up Artist, the seduction community along with the rest of the blogosphere has been buzzing in it’s supportive praises and scathing criticisms. Lets take a look:

  • VH1′s The Pickup Artist – My Confession as a Professional – Pick-up Coach, Sean Messenger, talks about his first impressions while meeting with Matador, J-Dog and Mystery long before the show aired. He explains how he never really cared for Mystery, however, since watching the show he’s had a change of heart.

    He cares like a motherfucker about his students. Even on this goofy show… you can see how much he wants the sweet, genuine, lonely guys on The Pickup Artist to be happy.

  • A Southern Girl’s Perspective of The Pick-up Artist – Virginia Belle gives us an interesting play by play of the first episode. She is very skeptical of Mystery at first but seems to grow more supportive of his method towards the end.
  • How To Be a Pick-up Artist (hint: dress like an ass) – A hater from the College Candy blog, this girl, like so many other female bloggers, is obsessed with criticizing Mystery’s fuzzy hat. But what you female viewers don’t realize is that he got a reaction from you. Whether it is positive or negative, doesn’t matter! That is the genius behind his method, it allows him to stand apart from the crowd and get his foot in the door. This is best demonstrated by Jess’ quote below:

    As much as the idea of this show makes me cringe, I may just have to watch it. Simply because I must know if that hat is worn into bars with success.

  • The Science of Insulting Women – A Freakonomics article which confuses negs with insults. The article is a bit misinformed, though the research it cites is certainly interesting.
  • Understanding Pickup – Herbal of The Game and Project Hollywood fame defends the seduction community and writes a rebuttal to the above article on negging.
  • The Artful Seducer – An interesting interview with Mystery discussing the show and his seduction practices. It almost seems like he is trying to pick-up the interviewer at the end.
