Karaoke Night

I was planning on staying in tonight but then I remembered my goal to make approaches. I decided to man-up and hit one of the local bars for karaoke night. The goal for the night was to simply approach at least one girl, that’s all!

Things were looking pretty bleak at first. I was dressed up in my rocker gear, displaying good body language, and smiling. One problem that I encountered is that I was basically standing or sitting by myself most of the time and hence was lacking social proof. About an hour went by and I still did not summon the courage to approach anyone. Eventually, a seat opened up at the bar so I sat down to just relax and watch the karaoke.

A girl came up to order a drink right next to me; I quickly grew some balls and said:

MS: Hi, you know who sings this?
HB: Oh, it’s No Doubt
MS: Oh right, of course…I guess I’m not used to a dude singing it
HB: yea that could be it
(awkward silence)
MS: hmmmm, he doesn’t seem to hit those high notes very well
HB: yea (gets her drinks and leaves..with a smile:)

Note: later in the night this girl showed up again standing near me and kept bumping into me which I really should have taken as a re-approach invitation or IOI? Not sure, but it is clear that I should have re-initiated the conversation.

About 10 minutes after the first approach another girl came up and ordered next to me. She accidentally bumped into me and tells me she’s sorry:

HB: oh sorry (smiling)
MS: oh that’s ok (smiling)
(pause)
MS: hmmm, this isn’t a women’s song (it was ladies karoke night)
HB: yea I know, it’s Guns N’ Roses
MS: yea, don’t get me wrong it’s a great song, but I thought they were only going to play women’s songs tonight
HB: oh really?
MS: yea I think it is Ladies Night or something
HB: hmmmm (she leaves with some dude)

Well, not very good but at least I put in two approaches. I didn’t get to use my 80’s opener which I should have considering most of the songs tonight were from the 80s. Also, I was very good at making eye contact and getting girls to smiles at me despite not approaching them…if only there was a way to seduce a woman without having to talk? Oh well, at least I was able to get in two approaches tonight rather than staying at home doing nothing. That’s it for tonight.
