Over the last week I have been searching many of the seduction websites and message boards looking for some good openers for my arsenal of pick-up material. Unfortunately, I feel that many of these just aren’t congruent with my personality and feel that most would come off as…well…a pick-up line. Rather then steal someone else’s opener, I’ve decided that it’d be best just to come up with my own. I’ve been thinking about this for the past week and have finally come up with something that I think I will be comfortable using on a regular basis.
The 80s band opener:
MS: (time constraint) Hi, can I ask you something real quick?
HB: yea, sure
MS: Which 80s band do you think had more passion in their songs, Journey or Foreigner?
HB: bla bla
MS: Oh really? I think (opposite of whatever she said) does. The reason I ask is because me and my friend were trying to decide that if we ever started an 80s tribute band, what band should be cover (this is the root).
I think this is a solid opener and has potential to go into a nice playful debate about the two bands. It also has potential to start new conversation threads like, “what would you name the tribute band?” or go into other topics regarding the 80s, like clothing styles and big hair. I believe I would feel congruent with this opener and any follow up conversation because I am genuinely interested in the above bands and 80s culture….it is very amusing to me:) So, there is my default opener. The only thing to do now is to test it out and see how it works!
My Goal for this week: Use the “80s band opener” at least 10 times before the end of Sunday, September 3rd.
